The Platform for the exchange and consultation of information on adaptation to climate change, AdapteCCa, is a tool at the service of all those experts, organisations, institutions and agents interested in accessing and exchanging information, knowledge and experiences on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change, as well as an instrument to enhance communication between all of them.
This project is an initiative of the Spanish Office for Climate Change and the Biodiversity Foundation which, together with the units responsible for adaptation to climate change in the Autonomous Communities, jointly identified the need to have an instrument for the exchange of information and communication between all experts, organisations, institutions and agents active in this field. at all levels.
The AdapteCCa platform for the exchange of information on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change facilitates the coordination and transfer of information, knowledge and experiences in the field between the different Spanish administrations, as well as between the scientific community, planners and managers, both public and private and other agents, enabling a multidirectional communication channel between all of them.
The National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (PNACC) is the general framework of reference for the assessment of impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change in our country. AdapteCCa is framed under this umbrella, helping to strengthen the structure of the PNACC in its axis of mobilisation of actors and its pillar of coordination between administrations.
At the European level, the basic reference is the European Adaptation Strategy. A basic pillar of this Community Strategy is the European Platform for Adaptation, Climate-Adapt, an initiative of the European Commission to promote access to and exchange of information on adaptation on sectors where Community policies exist and on the frameworks and initiatives of the Member States in this field.
The national AdapteCCa platform has been designed taking into full consideration and seeking maximum synergy with the European Climate-Adapt platform. In the conception and development of AdapteCCa, the European Commission and the European Environment Agency have an important role to play in maximising the complementarity between the two platforms.
