Club of Farms for the Conservation of the Iberian West

MITECO

The initiative seeks to improve the conservation status of the main habitats and species of western Iberia.

The project seeks to improve the conservation and demographic status of the main habitats and species of western Iberia, of the Meso-Mediterranean and supra-Mediterranean bioclimatic levels. To this end, it intends to intervene in a total of ten Natura 2000 areas with different actions to improve birds (in Special Protection Areas for Birds, SPAs) and habitats (in Sites of Community Importance, SCI).

In this way, the Nature and Man Foundation aims to increase the surface area and conservation status of riparian forests and quercus pastures. In addition, it seeks to improve wetlands for the black stork and establish new colonies of lesser kestrel, as well as to learn about the natural values of western Iberia at a local and national level.

Among the activities to achieve the objectives mentioned above, the following stand out:

  • Search for land stewardship agreements
  • Improvement of habitat of Quercus sp pastures
  • Improving riparian forest habitat
  • Wetland habitat enhancement
  • Improvement of black stork habitat
  • Improving Lesser Kestrel Habitat
  • Dissemination of the Club Oeste Ibérico
  • Creation of a website and dissemination through social networks
