The main objective of the project is to increase the scientific and technical quality of the Research Program of the Laboratory of Space Analysis of the University of Paraiba, Brazil, in the field of conservation of natural resources and sustainable development on the coast of Paraiba.
The main objective of the project is to increase the scientific and technical quality of the Research Program of the Laboratory of Space Analysis of the University of Paraiba, Brazil, in the field of conservation of natural resources and sustainable development on the coast of Paraiba.
More specifically, it is intended to:
- Develop a socio-environmental survey among local communities.
- To provide image processing and photo-interpretation techniques for territorial planning and to initiate cartography.
- Incorporate indicators of water and bioclimatic balances into conservation in watersheds and protected areas.
- Promote transdisciplinary seminars and workshops for the management of protected areas, as well as disseminate the results.
The specific actions planned are the following:
- Systematization of cartographic and environmental information on the coast of Paraiba.
- Census of local coastal communities.
- Diagnoses of conservation problems.
- Design and execution of the ESA, as well as processing the necessary permits.
- Fieldwork with cartography.
- Processing of cartography, satellite images and databases.
- Pharmacological assay of relevant medicinal species.
- ESA assessment.
- Progress in the diagnosis of valorization and possibilities for local sustainable development of the coast.
- Progress in the development of the Paraiba coastal GIS.
- Preparation of scientific articles.
