The project aims to identify the populations of pilot whales (Globicephala metas) in the Iberian Peninsula.

This initiative, which is being carried out in the Alboran Sea and in the Bay of Biscay, aims to identify the populations of pilot whales on the peninsula from a genetic point of view, as well as to estimate the parameters of natural history, abundance and spatial distribution.

The aim is to develop photo-identification catalogues that will serve as a management tool and implement a monitoring plan for the species in the Spanish Mediterranean.
