The main objective of the project is to improve the management of the Ecuadorian Amazon forest, in the province of Orellana, so that positive results are achieved that minimize the effects of climate change.

To this end, a pilot reforestation program will be implemented, together with the sectional governments, recovering deforested territories of indigenous peasant communities. On the other hand, a participatory forest management plan will be established for the province of Orellana, which regulates the use and sustainable management of the forest.

A forest diagnosis of the province will be carried out by compiling existing information. Based on it, the forest management plan will be drawn up, as well as the strategic plan agreed upon with all the actors in the forestry field.

Among the planned actions:

  • Courses will be held to train the technicians of the sectional governments in the proper management of the nurseries and so that the inhabitants of the communities are trained in the field of reforestation.
  • A register of the communities will be prepared and the different reforestation models to be implemented will be designed. The residents will be given plants, supplies and tools to be able to carry out the reforestation tasks.
  • A publication will include the systematization of the forestry plan of the province of Orellana.
