With the project “Monitoring and control of an invasive species in the community of Castilla-La Mancha: the case of the raccoon (Procyon lotor)” the association Terra Naturalis: Nature, culture and development aims to know the dissemination of this species in the community and control its population because, as an invasive species, it can be potentially harmful to the biodiversity of the area.

The entity will focus on the knowledge of the real distribution area of the raccoon and then organize different population control campaigns. The campaigns will be coordinated with each other and the information collected will also be used to carry out training sessions on the species and its effects on La Mancha’s biodiversity . Finally, a report will be created with the analysis of the data obtained and the design of a management plan for the species.
