The aim is to protect, in the medium term, the proposed areas, through their declaration as Marine Protected Areas by initiating the relevant procedures, thus creating a corridor of marine protected areas on the Tarragona coast.

More specifically, it is intended to:

  • To confirm the ecological value of the marine strips of La Rojala, Cap de Santes Creus and Platja de Torredembarra.
  • To order the uses of the proposed marine areas and to establish criteria and standards for basic protection and management organisation.
  • To make a proposal for a management plan for each marine area applying integrated coastal zone management guidelines.
  • To establish a framework for environmental education and awareness of the marine and coastal world aimed at the sectors involved and the population in general.
  • Develop an environmental volunteering program around the proposed project.
  • Conduct a participatory process targeting key sectors that influence and carry out activities in the proposed marine areas.
  • Carry out good communication and dissemination of all the phases and actions of the project.
  • Carry out the preliminary and/or derived work and procedures necessary to request the declaration of marine protected areas with the support of the administrations involved.
