The project aims to promote the sustainable use of natural resources and the improvement of the conservation status of the marine environment in Spain.
The project aims to promote the sustainable use of natural resources and the improvement of the conservation status of the marine environment in Spain.
To this end, research work on the Spanish marine environment will be promoted and marine areas that require protection will be identified, as well as increasing knowledge about threatened, vulnerable and interesting marine species.
The actions of the project will be aimed at contributing to the knowledge of the seabed and marine ecosystems of the Canary Islands, with a view to the declaration of new marine protected areas and their eventual incorporation into the Natura 2000 Network. They will also make it possible to establish permanent monitoring tools, which ensure knowledge of the seabed and marine ecosystems of the islands.
The specific actions planned are the following:
- Preparatory phase of the project.
- Field study phase.
- Phase of analysis of the results.
- Dissemination phase of the results.
- Monitoring and evaluation phase of the objectives.
