The Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs has entrusted the Biodiversity Foundation with the development of part of the Trees Programme. The works will be aimed at the recovery and consolidation of native landscapes and ecosystems with areas greater than 5 hectares. To this end, the FB promotes the signing of the corresponding collaboration protocols with local corporations that manage public domain and heritage forests.
Within this framework, a collaboration protocol has been signed between the FB and the City Council of Ayora, Valencia, to mitigate climate change in this municipality through the planting of native tree species and the regeneration of the landscape.
The objective is to contribute to the effective reduction of the effects of climate change and desertification through the creation of CO2 sinks in the form of forests, with the intention that, in this way, natural heritage and biodiversity are also increased.
