Digitalisation and dissemination of data for the valuation of ecosystem services and their contribution to depopulation and climate change (CLYRA)

MITECO

  • This project will develop a digital platform as a space for alliance and collaboration between key actors (academic entities, administrations, producers and companies) for the valorization of ecosystem services.
  • To this end, it will collect and digitize agroforestry management data, generating environmental and socioeconomic indicators and integrate a digital library, visual tools and training modules, ensuring open access, reuse and traceability of data.

The project will develop an innovative digital platform that collects, structures and disseminates information on the ecosystem services generated by forestry, agricultural and livestock management, taking as a reference the “Los Palancares y Agregados” Public Utility Forest, located in the province of Cuenca. This mountain, managed sustainably for more than 100 years, is a strategic enclave due to its ecological richness, its diversity of land uses and the existence of an extensive database on its evolution. Its characteristics allow for a rigorous assessment of the impact of forest management on the provision of ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, water regulation and biodiversity conservation.

Its specific objectives include:

  • Digitize and structure information on forest management and ecosystem services and their economic and social impact.
  • Develop a digital platform for dissemination and access to information.
  • Knowledge transfer and collaboration between key actors.
  • Collection and organization of historical and current data on the sustainable forest management of the “Los Palancares y Agregados” Mountain.
  • Conversion of forest management information into indicators of ecosystem services (carbon capture, biodiversity, water footprint).
  • Compilation of information on the economic and social impact of ecosystem services and their potential in the fight against rural depopulation.
  • Creation of a digital library with structured data, case studies and training resources.
  • Development of digital tools for the visualization of environmental and economic impact information.
  • Organisation of workshops and webinars with managers, farmers, companies and administrations to promote the adoption of nature-based solutions in ecosystem services.
  • Implementation of measures to ensure women’s participation in the digitalisation and management of ecosystem services, including training and visibility actions.
  • Production of audiovisual content.
