The project promotes the ecological restoration of river habitats, the promotion of local fauna and the improvement of the connectivity of the Congost River.
This project seeks to restore the quality and ecological connectivity of native river habitats by enhancing the local fauna of the Congost River (included in the Natura 2000 Network), in the province of Barcelona, through social participation, volunteering and land stewardship.
Among the restoration and connectivity activities and promotion of native fauna are:
- Removal of exotic species and planting
- Planting of vegetation nuclei following and enhancing current and developing habitats
- Plantations on the river promenade
- Connection of the river with the Carbonell stream: removal of American cane and planting of helophytes
- Drafting of the maintenance plan with environmental criteria: selective mowing and waste collection
Likewise, in the field of volunteering and social participation, the following activities will be carried out:
- Meetings and presentations with social agents
- Collaboration agreements between identified agents and Associació Hàbitats
- Integrating volunteerism into conservation activities
- Training sessions on conservation techniques and environmental inspection
- Volunteer management
- Visits open to the population to publicize the project
