The coralligenous community of Paramuricea clavata, located in the Cabrera National Park, is one of the most diverse Mediterranean communities and especially vulnerable, due to the longevity and low dynamics of its species.
The coralligenous community of Paramuricea clavata, located in the Cabrera National Park, is one of the most diverse Mediterranean communities and especially vulnerable, due to the longevity and low dynamics of its species.
The main objective of the project is to assess the effects of global warming on this coralligenous community, which has a low capacity to resist disturbances.
More specifically, it is intended to:
- Characterize the thermal context in which the communities develop.
- To quantify the impact of the 2007 mass morality episode on Paramuricea clavata populations and to study the evolution of populations after this impact.
- To characterize the species associated with the populations of Paramuricea clavata.
The planned actions are aimed at achieving a research study based on the aforementioned objectives.
