The land freight transport sector, currently based in Spain on a large fleet of high, medium and low tonnage vehicles in the hands of a highly fragmented SME business sector, is particularly affected by the economic crisis both in Spain and internationally.
It should be noted that it contributes very significantly to the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) and other polluting particles that are harmful to the environment and health. In addition, it is totally dependent on the import of fuels and, however, it has not made the necessary effort to achieve greater energy savings and efficiency. It is possible to transform their technical and productive capacities towards environmentally healthy and sustainable models.
