The initiative consists of a training program for 6 scholarship holders, aimed at specialization in environmental information for final-year students and recent graduates of communication faculties.
The scholarship will be developed in different national delegations of the EFE Agency and in the EFEVERDE newsroom in Madrid, as the central point of the news agency’s environmental information.
The fellows will be integrated into their respective journalistic newsrooms, where they will be trained in information technologies. Thus, they will manage their own dissemination system, prepare the information in multimedia support, and make use of Internet resources.
They will also acquire the relevant skills in terms of the relationship with information sources, writing techniques and use of the various journalistic genres. All this will be applied in the practice of writing agency news, under the mentorship of the person in charge of each news writing.
The development of this project aims to strengthen environmental awareness of the immediate environment, through the specialization of young journalists. The increase in environmental information and especially in its quality, as it is prepared by specialists, favors greater social awareness. On the other hand, the use of traditional dissemination channels, such as those of Agencia EFE, together with new tools for the dissemination of environmental information, such as those developed by EFEVERDE, (social networks, Web, MMS) will allow messages to be disseminated to new sectors of society.
This action has the support of entities such as the Association of Environmental Information Journalists (APIA) and the Rey Juan Carlos University.
