The project aims to disseminate the concept of land stewardship among hunters.
This project of the Royal Spanish Hunting Federation seeks to disseminate the concept of land stewardship among hunters as a management tool and make it available to them.
During the first year, the objective is for the group of hunters and rural people to see that land stewardship is a conservation tool at their service and not a possible threat.
In addition, it aims to achieve acceptance and interest on the part of the hunters’ group and that at least three stewardship agreements are signed in this first year between the owners of preserves and the Foundation for the Study and Defense of Nature and Hunting (FEDENCA), the latter acting as a custodian entity. In this way, it will be possible to involve the regional hunting federations and hunters’ societies, showing the first results of these first three agreements to the hunters, in the company of those involved.
On the other hand, it is intended to raise awareness among hunters about the importance of conserving biodiversity.
Among the activities to be developed within the framework of the project are:
- Contact with all the regional presidents
- Selection of five autonomous communities
- Presentation to hunters’ societies in these five autonomous communities by the regional hunting federations
- Reaching at least three custody agreements
- Preparation of the agreement, implementation, advice and monitoring by the staff of FEDENCA and the regional federations
- Sharing of the results by the participants themselves with other hunting societies
