The project aims to provide sustainable criteria to actors related to the import of biofuels from developing countries, so that they do not have a negative impact on the development of the population of the South.
To this end, three Case Studies will be carried out (Nicaragua, Peru and Tanzania), as well as awareness-raising actions on the issue of the impact of biofuels on development. In addition, spaces for reflection and debate between Spanish and international actors will be promoted, through meetings and an international workshop on the impact of biofuels on development, with the participation of the project’s local counterparts.
It will also promote the deepening of the biofuels-development problem and the generation of proposals for improvement from the field of research for development. To this end, support will be given to the creation of a North-South Inter-University Network, which promotes lines of research in the field of biofuel sustainability from the perspective of development and sustainability.
The beneficiaries of the project are Spanish and international public and private actors related to biofuels and the poorest people in the South related to biofuels, especially women and inhabitants of rural areas.
