The Infoadapta-agri project has completed its second phase of the project to inform, communicate, raise awareness and capture climate change adaptation measures in agriculture and livestock.

The Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers (UPA) has completed the project ‘Infoadapta-agri II: Information, communication, awareness and training on climate change adaptation measures in agriculture and livestock’, which has had the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition through its 2017 call for grants. It has aimed to advance in the awareness and training of the agricultural sector on the need to implement concrete adaptation measures that reduce the effects of climate change.

To deepen the knowledge of the measures to be implementedA preliminary study was carried out, surveying representative farmers. Based on the results, a report was prepared with the eight measures that were considered as potential for implementation. A training day was held for technicians where the decisions of the report were deepened with the aim of improving the activities carried out by farmers and ranchers in their area. At the same time, a report was commissioned from the UPM, with simulations of the evolution of wheat and barley yields for different locations, modifying planting dates and cycle length options. In addition, to support training, informative days were held for farmers, which were aimed at specific experiences in the field.

Once completed, a manual was prepared that has collected the results of the project, general data from the surveys, the general considerations of climate change obtained, as well as a summary of the report prepared by the University. Finally, a final day was held in which the methodology of the project and its results were explained.
