The project aims to reduce the effects of climate change on companies in the wood sector in Spain and develop concrete measures to reduce their vulnerability to it, as well as improve their social footprint.

The project “Integrating climate change adaptation and the social footprint into the strategies of Spanish companies in the wood trade and industry sector” aims to reduce the effects of climate change on companies in the wood sector in Spain, develop concrete measures to reduce their vulnerability and improve their social footprint.

The project studies the effect that climate change has on tropical timber imports from developing countries, in line with the work carried out in Europe through the EU Sustainable Tropical Timber Coalition led by IDH and in which COPADE is the representative for Spain.

To this end, the following activities are carried out within the framework of this project:

  • Identification of the climate risks faced by the sector in Spain
  • Analysis of current and future vulnerability to the effects of climate change
  • Assessment of the sector’s adaptability
  • Analysis of the Impact of Climate Change on Tropical Timber Imports: Forest Communities in Developing Countries
  • Analysis of the adaptation options for the sector and selection of the most suitable ones.
  • Development of a methodology for the analysis of risks and vulnerability of the sector to climate change
  • Development of a methodology for the analysis of the impact of climate change on the social footprint of companies in the wood sector
  • Dissemination of teaching materials
  • Preparation of informative materials
  • Visit to entities in the wood sector in Spain to present the results of the project
