Celebration of the International Symposium on the detection and projection of climate change in Spain according to the latest IPCC report (CLIMA-ES-2015)
This project aimed to organize an international symposium under the name “Advances in the detection and projections of climate change in Spain in the light of the fifth IPCC report (CLIMA-ES-2015)”. The aim was to assess and discuss the most recent scientific production on the variability and change that the climate is experiencing in Spain. In addition, it has contributed to the development of the objectives of the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change. The symposium, coordinated by the Rovira i Virgili University, has served as a forum for the discussion and scientific assessment of the new knowledge of Spanish science on the subject of climate change.
By carrying out this initiative, the aim is to bring together the Spanish scientific community in a forum for the scientific discussion of the new knowledge about climate and climate change produced in and about Spain. The main activities to be carried out within the framework of the project are:
- Creation of a website and an application for the management of registrations and contributions “online” and dissemination of the event.
- Publicity of CLIMA-ES-2015 based on the mailing lists of the participating entities and the media.
- Funding through competitive and non-competitive calls.
The congress was attended by more than a hundred specialists and researchers from more than 50 different entities. A total of 118 scientific contributions were received, including oral and poster communications (105), invited papers (8) and one Climate Services event (5). In addition, and thanks to the dissemination work of the Symposium, a total of 75 appearances have been recorded in media of different nature: written and digital press, radio, television and specialized blogs. Currently, and thanks to the website created for the congress (http://www.climaes2015.urv.cat/?lang=es), you can consult all the information related to the Symposium and download a document with all the abstracts that were exhibited during it.
