The project aims to contribute through the generation of information, communication, training and the development of proposed methodologies and actions, to the adaptation to climate change and the prevention of maladaptation through the involvement of private landowners who participate in stewardship projects, manage thousands of hectares of high ecological value in Spain and generate hundreds of jobs, and whose properties and employees may be affected or vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

The project aims to contribute through the generation of information, communication, training and the development of proposed methodologies and actions, to the adaptation to climate change and the prevention of maladaptation through the involvement of private landowners who participate in stewardship projects, manage thousands of hectares of high ecological value in Spain and generate hundreds of jobs, and whose properties and employees may be affected or vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

  • Survey or interview owners and workers of farms with a total area of more than 50,000 ha, distributed throughout the country.
    The project is aimed at the different Autonomous Communities, their families and people with vernacular knowledge of the rural environment.
  • Draw conclusions through a systematic analysis of these surveys and/or interviews.
  • Select and rank of actions that may lead to increases in the risk of climate-related negative effects,
    increased vulnerability or welfare loss in the present or in the future applicable to the management or conservation of privately owned natural areas.
  • Create a guide for self-diagnosis of maladaptation to climate change applicable to private farms and/or natural areas and informative support materials that show success stories.
  • Identify actions/measures that can contribute to adaptation applicable by owners, managers or workers of private natural areas.
  • Hold meetings and/or encounters and/or working groups to exchange information, actions and measures and/or successful experiences in adaptation to CC in private farms or natural areas and for the prevention of maladaptation situations or processes.
  • Conduct workshops and train-the-trainer courses on adaptation and maladaptation to climate change for key personnel, mainly rural women, linked to farms and areas.
