The project aims to contribute to the elimination of the problem of marine litter through quantitative knowledge of it.
The project “MARNOBA Platform. Development of an integrated methodology for the characterization of marine litter on beaches and seabeds of the Spanish coast and the associated mobile application” aims to contribute to the elimination of the problem of marine litter through quantitative knowledge of it.
The initiative, launched by the Zero Waste Association, seeks to create a freely accessible web space with information and raise awareness about the problem of marine litter. In addition, a database on marine litter on the Spanish coast has been generated and an integrated methodology will be applied that allows the analysis of the problem by existing research groups. The aim is to raise public awareness of this problem on a scientific basis.
The project has aimed to develop and test a protocol and a mobile application in the field of marine litter on the seabed. It has also sought to optimize and maintain the website and the associated mobile application, analyze the data obtained and disseminate the tool.
Therefore, in terms of the dissemination of results, the Awareness and Adoption Promotion Program carried out by the Vertidos Cero Association has generated a web space as a communication tool for the http://vertidoscero.com/Marnoba_AVC project with nearly 8,000 direct visits, in addition to a results viewer for each beach characterized by users of the MARNOBA application that has been downloaded more than 700 times.
