The general objective of the MAYAS project is to increase the training of the actors involved in primary production in the Valencian Community, to achieve an increase in the area, crops and the number of operators.
In this way, both integrated and organic production achieve improvements in various aspects:
- Compliance with the requirements of environmental regulations.
- Production systems, rebalancing soils and optimising the energy balance of farms.
- The environment, minimizing the use of polluting inputs and making a more rational use of natural resources.
- In the working conditions of farmers and other production professionals, by reducing the handling of phytosanitary substances, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers.
All this represents considerable support for the social, economic and environmental sustainability of agricultural activity, as well as an unquestionable improvement in working conditions in primary production.
The project aims to train farmers through face-to-face courses, so that the knowledge acquired allows them to make decisions to take the step to organic farming easily.
