To create a Territorial Quality Mark in the Alto Bernesga Biosphere Reserve to strengthen the territorial quality of the area based on economic, social and environmental quality, and reinforcing its identity.

The municipalities integrated in the Alto Bernesga Biosphere Reserve (RB) will thus have their own territorial brand and the concession to use the European ecolabel “Rural Quality”.

The purpose of regional territorial brands is not the protection and/or enhancement of a particular product, but of all products and services and of the cultural and natural heritage of a territory.

Its ultimate objective is to deepen the improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of a territory and strengthen their links with the local culture and the physical-natural environment, creating a common geographical space with a high level of territorial competitiveness. It responds to a new approach to rural development, and aims to increase the value of the territory as a whole.

The specific objectives are:

• To consolidate the productive fabric of the RB Alto Bernesga, as well as the employment, income and welfare capacities of its inhabitants.
• To make viable the rural territory of the reserve, which is committed to a model of sustainable development.
• Transfer instruments and methodologies for building the Territorial Quality Brand, from those territories that already have it to those that are starting the process.
• To revitalize the territory based on the need to work for territorial quality.
• Equip themselves with the brand’s own instruments, i.e. their logo and specific charter, regulations and management and control bodies.
• To implement the brand in entities and companies in the territories that work with a network logic within the RB Alto Bernesga and with the other territories that carry the MCTE, in order to be more competitive, economically, socially and environmentally.
