Observatory of the landscape of the Vega Media of the Segura River and its traditional orchard

MITECO

The main objective of the project is to promote the preservation of the landscape constituted by the Segura River and the orchard that irrigates in the section that runs through the Vega Media region, by enhancing the visual, perceptive, environmental and cultural aspects of it and its dissemination among the population of the region. mainly schoolchildren from the municipalities that make it up.

More specifically, it is intended to:

Study the elements, characteristics and state of the landscape.
To compile old and current images that show the landscape impact produced by human activity in the region.
To promote the incorporation of the study of this landscape into the curriculum of schools.
To publicize the aesthetic, historical, spiritual, social and identity values of the landscape through the use of New Information Technologies.
To create a permanent physical space of a recreational and informative nature for the knowledge and enjoyment of the landscape of the Vega Media region.
To promote awareness of the impact that human activity has on the landscape and didactic experimentation on alternatives that can be carried out by the population in their daily lives, acting as a pilot group among 6th grade students.
Disseminate the project as an example of good practice and ensure its continuity.

The specific actions planned are the following:

Preparation of a database of digitized documents with images of the area.
Preparation of a guide for the teacher on the landscape and preparation of 5 fieldwork sheets for the students.
Organization of guided visits with schoolchildren to an exhibition on the landscape of the area and participation in landscaping workshops.
Placement of a viewpoint in Los Juncos Park.
Preparation of brochures, creation of a project website, design of information panels, etc.
