The project proposes a walk through the tree of life, focusing on the mechanisms that generate biodiversity, its evolution throughout history and documenting the great extinctions.
The exhibition will allow visitors to learn about the distribution of biodiversity throughout the planet, the reasons that justify its conservation and the role played by natural history museums, through their collections, as witnesses of its history. It will also bring you closer to the cutting-edge research on biodiversity that is being carried out in our country, mainly at the National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCN).
The objective therefore goes beyond raising awareness or familiarizing the public about what biodiversity means and the consequences of its mismanagement. It is also sought that they understand that the continuity of life requires the conservation of all the diversity that has allowed us to get here.
The specific objectives are:
- To offer visitors to the MNCN an exhibition that reflects the research work that is currently being carried out on biodiversity and conservation.
- To give visitors access to different educational materials and activities that complement the content of the exhibition.
- To have a didactic guide for teachers in order to prepare the visit to the exhibition.
- Make available to the general public a website about the exhibition.
