The objective of the “Portal for Energy Saving and Rational Use” project is to minimise the risk of energy poverty in Spanish households.

The project “Portal for saving and rational use of energy”, launched by the Ecology and Development Foundation (ECODES), aims to improve energy efficiency in Spanish homes, reducing the risk of energy poverty.

In addition, it seeks to know the real situation of Spanish families in terms of energy efficiency, provide energy and economic saving solutions and compile the existing information in Spain in relation to this issue.

Thanks to the initiative, it is expected to be able to inform the population about the options that exist for both economic and energy savings at home through a user help map. An energy characterisation of Spanish families will also be carried out and a portal on energy improvement in homes will be launched. Finally, it is expected to obtain a map of the initiatives and work carried out in Spain in relation to energy poverty.

To this end, the project has launched a series of activities, among which are:

• Selection and preparation of information of interest to users by province (public and private aid, addresses and contacts of interest) and programming of a map by provinces.
• Contact with social housing management entities in Spain.
• Preparation of a simplified questionnaire for the energy characterisation of households.
• Call through the different managing entities and for different cities of a conference on energy saving in the home.
• Development of an informative web portal.
• Definition of recommendations on billing and habits to save energy and money at home.
