The City Council of Vigo has carried out a cursory study in the wetlands of A Bouza and Muíños about the fauna and flora in order to determine their natural interest in terms of biodiversity, host of migratory species and birds, as well as recovery capacity, concluding that the latter is large.
Based on this information, the City Council intends to develop a policy of recovery of the same with the intention of making them known and proceeding to their protection.
Among the actions to be carried out is the detailed study of the species present, as well as their inventory, both of permanent species and migratory birds of seasonal presence. It is also proposed to proceed with the cleaning of weeds or dirt and the removal of invasive species, mapping of the lands included in the wetlands, as well as the creation of points of enjoyment and observation respecting the integrity of the environment (viewpoints). Finally, dissemination tasks are included, both of the actions carried out and of the natural interest of the environments.
The specific objectives are:
- Inventory the existing birds in the areas, including possible migratory species that appear temporarily.
- To improve the natural environment, by clearing undergrowth and invasive species present in the area.
- Adapt the environment for visiting, observing and enjoying the natural environment.
- To inform about the natural quality of the areas and to promote collective enjoyment by the local population and other visitors.
At the same time, the aim is to raise awareness among the private owners of properties included in the wetland, about the value of this environment and the need to carry out actions for its conservation, both their own and through the transfer of custody to the City Council of Vigo.
