The University of Cantabria was a beneficiary in the 2016 Call for Grants for the implementation of projects in the field of adaptation to climate change of the Biodiversity Foundation with the project “Regional projections of climate change for extreme winds in Spain for the 21st century: Characterization of return values and frequency of atmospheric configurations of danger”. whose purpose was the generation and analysis of knowledge on impact assessment, vulnerability and adaptation in the sectors, systems, resources and geographical territories considered in the PNACC.
The results of the project conclude that, in the future, no major changes are expected compared to the historical period in the frequency and intensity of extreme wind events and explosive cyclogenesis affecting the Iberian Peninsula.
