The objective of this initiative is to boost the population of the Biosphere Reserve of the Sierras de Béjar and Francia, in the province of Salamanca, through different actions.

The objective of this initiative is to boost the population of the Biosphere Reserve of the Sierras de Béjar and Francia, in the province of Salamanca, through different actions.

In October 2006, the Sierras de Béjar and Francia Biosphere Reserve was declared. This project aims to energize the population of the reserve by establishing various channels, such as the celebration of presentation days of the biosphere reserve, permanent participation forums, a training and environmental education program aimed at the entire population and the establishment of the necessary measures to obtain funds that make the reserve self-sustainable.

These actions are aimed at ensuring that the inhabitants participate in the development of a Strategic Plan for the operation of the reserve itself with the principles set by the MaB Committee of UNESCO and the human and economic development of the population that respects the environment.
