The Biosphere Reserve of the Omaña and Luna valleys, located in the northwest of the province of León, has been suffering for decades from a strong loss of population that has led to a decrease in traditional work such as agriculture and livestock.

These activities were responsible for the maintenance of certain ecosystems such as meadows, hedgerows and sebe, which provided an important diversity of habitats and species in the territory. Currently, the natural resources of the reserve are without legal protection, a fact that hinders its conservation and the sustainable development of the area. To alleviate this situation, this project is being developed, which aims to launch the biosphere reserve in an autonomous and sustainable way.
