River volunteering: brown trout and sustainable fish farming tourism

MITECO

This project aims to enhance the value of river ecosystems in general and the common trout (Salmo trutta) in particular. Also of the pilot territories participating in the project, both from a tourist and environmental point of view. It will be approached with a double approach: internally (to raise awareness among the local population of the possibilities of their rivers and their environment) and externally (to improve the image of the territories and make them more attractive from a tourist point of view). All this from the point of view of no-kill fishing, with an approach of sustainability, territorial stewardship, continuous analysis, detection of alterations and improvement of the habitat.

All this from the point of view of no-kill fishing, with an approach of sustainability, territorial stewardship, continuous analysis, detection of alterations and improvement of the habitat.

To achieve these objectives, the following actions have been outlined:

  • Creation of a common and transferable application model.
  • Publication of didactic material with an environmental focus on the important characteristics of river ecosystems and on tourism-fish farming possibilities.
  • Analysis of the quality of the different river ecosystems in the project territory. Detection of alterations.
  • Publication of an orthophotocartographic dossier of all the sections of the project with a tourist focus.
  • Recreational tourism publication to be disseminated in accommodation, tourist offices and fair events, with panoramic photographs, emblematic species of fauna and flora, and a section on initiation to trout fishing with a focus on fishing without death.
  • Communication and dissemination campaign: Press office, dissemination and training work (fishing gear and entomology)
