This project aims to achieve majority support for the proposal to declare the Sierra de las Nieves National Park.

This project, launched by the Sierra de las Nieves Association of Municipalities, aims to achieve majority support for the proposal to declare the Sierra de las Nieves National Park. On the other hand, the local population and their representatives will be informed and sensitized about the positive aspects that the declaration of a National Park in the area would have.

This initiative also aims to achieve the active participation of the local population in the declaration process, and in the preparation of the documents of the same (Natural Resources Management Plan, PORN). Information will be provided to the population on the repercussions of the declaration of other parks in the Spanish state and their operating system.

Within the framework of this project, it is expected to obtain the support of all municipalities and all public administrations for the proposal for a National Park in the Sierra de las Nieves. It also seeks to raise awareness among 10,000 people and all social groups in the territory.

To this end, different activities have been launched:

• Editing and publication of informative materials
• Preparation of printed and audio-visual materials
• Holding forums and meetings for public participation and informative talks in each municipality
• Thematic meetings with social groups and sectors of activity
• Holding seminars, conferences and specialized courses
• Creation of an informative web space on the Sierra de las Nieves as a National Park
• Image and communication campaign on social networks and other media and information
• Visits to other National Parks by different agents and social groups of the Sierra de las Nieves
