The project consists of biological management and monitoring actions in order to create the right conditions, or improve existing ones, for the nesting of specimens of European storm petrel and Cory’s shearwater.
The project consists of biological management and monitoring actions in order to create the right conditions, or improve existing ones, for the nesting of specimens of European storm petrel and Cory’s shearwater. This project will be launched in Islas Hormigas, Isla de las Palomas and Isla Cueva de Lobos in Murcia, designated SPAs (Special Protection Areas for Birds) by the colonies of the aforementioned species.
Among the activities included in the project are:
- The provision of nesting infrastructures in the Ant Islands.
- The biological monitoring of nesting seabirds and other relevant species.
- Control of exotic plant species on Isla de las Palomas and Isla Cueva de Lobos.
- An outreach campaign will also be activated, consisting of holding talks and training courses, exhibitions in cultural centres and the publication of informative materials.
