On the island of Lanzarote, the livestock population is made up of 36,000 head of small ruminants whose feed with grains and fibre is imported. The cultivation of fodder plants will contribute to soil stabilization, prevent erosion and favor the recovery of its biodiversity. In addition, it will promote the recovery of endangered species and improve the rural landscape, making economic development and conservation compatible.
