The purpose of the initiative is to conserve and revalue the agroforestry landscape in the mountains of Béjar and Francia, in the province of Salamanca, and its associated resources by proposing a model of sustainable management of natural resources.

The disappearance of the traditional model of use and management of the territory in the mountains of Béjar and Francia is the main cause of the decrease in the biodiversity of their ecosystems. The abandonment of traditional agroforestry uses has led to the loss of the associated cultural landscape, as well as the deterioration of habitats that are home to a large number of emblematic species of flora and fauna.

To recover the landscape in the area, this project focuses on the recovery of a land management model that integrates the different agricultural and forestry systems into the natural environment, through an agroecological approach.

In this way, the double objective is pursued to recover and value the enormous number of cultivated native varieties that the area still has and, at the same time, to conserve an agricultural landscape of high natural and cultural value. To this end, the participation of the different socio-economic agents involved will be encouraged.
