Piensa enclima was born in order to analyze the policies and impacts of the largest companies in five consumer sectors, in terms of climate change, taking into account the production processes and the life cycle of the products.
The initiative aimed to stimulate improvement in the management of the companies analysed and thus indirectly obtain changes in production patterns to reduce greenhouse gas emissions due to the consumption, manufacture and use of products from the selected sectors.
In short, the aim was to introduce signals into the market through responsible consumption, so that companies in the target sectors would adopt more sustainable practices and policies with regard to climate change.
At the end of the project, the following have been achieved:
- To evaluate the climate change performance of the largest companies in certain consumer sectors, thanks to the development of a fairly rigorous methodology reinforced by Climate Counts.
- To inform consumers about the results of the analysis, in order to allow them to have criteria to choose from with climate change criteria, thanks to the effort made in dissemination.
- Develop a website and edit a pocket guide.
- Inform the companies analysed about the process, method and results of the analysis, to facilitate them in improving their management of climate change, thanks to the evaluation itself and the preparation of sectoral reports.
- To train future business management professionals on how to minimise the impact of companies on the climate, thanks to the presentation and distribution of case studies.
