The 64th General Assembly of the United Nations in December 2009 agreed to organize a conference in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in 2012 that would mark the twentieth anniversary of the first Earth Summit, held in June 1992.
The new meeting in Rio, in 2012, is an opportunity for Spanish civil society organisations that promote sustainability from different fields (environmental, social, development cooperation, trade unions) to work to influence what is said and done before, during and after the Rio+20 summit.
To this end, ECODES wants to hold a training seminar on how to influence international forums, aimed at heads of the main Spanish NGOs. This seminar aims to be the starting point to work on an effective preparation of proposals, so that governments in Rio renew their political commitment to sustainable development. It will therefore serve to promote the exchange of proposals for Rio+20.
The seminar will be held in the city of Zaragoza, on September 22 and 23, 2011 at the Joaquín Roncal Center of the CAI-ASC Foundation.
