The initiative is part of a program that consists of the comprehensive restoration and renovation of forests, through reforestation with 45 million native tree or shrub species throughout the national territory. The reforestation work will have the participation of volunteers.

The objective is to contribute to the reduction of the effects of climate change and desertification, through the creation of CO2 sinks in the form of forests, with the intention that, in this way, the natural heritage and biodiversity are also increased.

Likewise, within the framework of the Land Stewardship Platform (PCT), the Biodiversity Foundation seeks to become a meeting place for all the land stewardship networks and entities that carry out their activity in Spain, providing them with support and encouraging them to continue working to promote land stewardship. To this end, the Platform wants to involve all custodial entities to participate in this program through volunteering.

The tree planting actions will be carried out with the participation of volunteers, and will take place on the farms of entities that participate in the custody agreements. So far, 40,000 trees have been planted with the help of 4,300 volunteers.
