The Minister of the Environment, Cristina Narbona, and the Minister of the Environment of Andalusia, Fuensanta Coves, have presented the IV International Conference on Forest Fires, which will be held from 13 to 17 May in Seville.
The International Conference on Forest Fires (International Wildland Fire Conference) is a summit of global relevance that will bring together more than 1,000 government representatives, technicians and experts from countries on five continents in the capital of Seville. It is the first time that this event has been held in Spain and in a European country, since the previous ones took place in Boston (USA, 1989), Vancouver (Canada, 1997) and Sydney (Australia, 2003).
The Ministry of the Environment and the Regional Government of Andalusia are responsible for organising this event, which will have the collaboration of the International Liaison Committee (ILC), the Advisory Group on Forest Fires of the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN ISDR), the US Department of Agriculture and the International Association of Wildland Fire. The summit is also being held under the auspices of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the European Commission.
