The Biodiversity Foundation and Ecoembes have signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of combating marine litter and promoting green employment in our country, which includes an endowment of €400,000. During the signing, in which the director of the Biodiversity Foundation participated. Sonia Castañeda, and the CEO of Ecoembes, Óscar Martín, the commitment of both institutions to the promotion of green employment has been reaffirmed.

Aware of the need to develop initiatives that contribute to the care of the marine ecosystem, both institutions will launch a specific call to support projects related to marine litter. They will include actions such as the preparation of studies on the impact of litter on the marine environment, as well as volunteer and clean-up actions on different beaches on the Spanish coast. The objective of the agreement is to contribute to alleviating the negative socio-economic effects of marine litter, as well as the threat it poses to both human health and marine fauna and flora.

On the other hand, Ecoembes and the Biodiversity Foundation will develop Social Innovation actions, through the implementation of projects aimed at improving employment and promoting entrepreneurship in the field of prevention and recycling.

On the other hand, and within the framework of the Entrepreneurship Network of the Biodiversity Foundation, actions will be developed to promote the creation of companies in this area of work and new lines of business.

Sonia Castañeda stressed that “we know that the green economy is the present and the future and this agreement will allow us to support new entrepreneurs to launch their ideas”.
