The jury of the European Business Awards for the Environment met last week to decide the companies that will compete for the awards of this 2018-2019 edition.
In total, 28 companies from 9 countries make up the list of finalists for the European competition. Of these 28 companies, 5 are Spanish, demonstrating the high quality of the award-winning projects in the 2017-2018 edition of the Spanish Section, whose award ceremony took place on June 5, World Environment Day and was presided over by His Majesty the King.
These awards are only open to those proposals that have been awarded in competitions organised by the national sections of the awards and that may be from member countries of the European Union or candidate countries for membership. The European jury was made up of experts in the field of the environment, including the director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Sonia Castañeda.
The European Business Awards for the Environment have been convened since 1987 by the European Commission to recognize those companies that successfully combine the economic viability of their businesses with the protection of the environment. In Spain, the European Business Awards for the Environment have been held since 1997, and for the winning companies they represent an important recognition both from society and from the world of business and sustainability. The awards improve their visibility and open up new business opportunities for them.
