The project aims to steward the territory in the southeast of the peninsula, through the execution of conservation and awareness actions.
The project aims to steward the territory in the southeast of the peninsula, through the execution of conservation and awareness actions.
Specifically, it is intended to develop actions for the conservation and sustainable management of biodiversity in the Land Stewardship Network and to promote populations of prey species by increasing trophic resources for threatened predators; to involve farm owners and to disseminate the importance of land stewardship as a useful tool for conservation.
The planned areas of action are: Sª. de los Mayorales (Águilas, Murcia), Cabezo de la Jara (Puerto Lumbreras, Murcia and Huércal-Overa and Vélez Rubio, Almería), Cabezo del Cuco and Sª. de la Torrecilla (Lorca, Murcia), Sª. de Columbares y el Garruchal (Murcia), Sª.de las Lomas y Quibas (Abanilla, Murcia), Sª. de Moratalla (Moratalla, Murcia), Sª. de la Muela (Cartegena, Murcia), Sª. de las Estancias (Sta. María de la Nieva, Almería) and Sª. de los Filabres (Tahal, Almería).
The specific actions envisaged in the project are:
- Planting plots to favour game species.
- Installation of majanos for the reinforcement of wild rabbit populations.
- Maintenance and consolidation of the Network of Biological Reserves of the Southeast through the organization of informative meetings with owners of the Network.
- Preparation of informative and educational material consisting of a polydiptych on Land Stewardship and posters about the project.
- Project communication campaign.
