The Observatory for a Culture of the Territory has launched, with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation, a pilot experience on the University City Campus with the aim of incorporating local and seasonal food produced in municipalities of the Natura 2000 Network into the menus of the university dining room, and catering services, publicizing the positive impacts of these products and creating a network among producers.

The project has contributed to promoting the consumption of local, seasonal, organic and agroecological food produced in Natura 2000 Network municipalities in the Madrid bioregion, in the dining room of the Higher Technical School of Agronomic, Food and Biosystems Engineering, which has been positioned as a real space for research, innovation and development. This experience has generated interesting data to provide the university government with tools to initiate the transition towards the sustainability of its canteens.
