The project seeks to contribute to the adaptation of the management of the Terras do Miño Biosphere Reserve and Parga-Ladra-Támoga SAC to the challenges presented by climate change.
The Galician Association of Land Stewardship (AGCT) has completed a project whose objective has been to contribute to the adaptation of the management of the Terras do Miño Biosphere Reserve and SAC (Special Area of Conservation) Parga-Ladra-Támoga to the challenges presented by climate change. The initiative “Adapting what is gerund: preparing the Terras do Miño Biosphere Reserve for climate change” has had the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition through its 2017 call for grants.
The completion of the project has made it possible to carry out an initial assessment of the threat posed by climate change to the natural environment of Terra Chá (Terras do Miño Biosphere Reserve). The situation of three habitats of great interest (alluvial forest, wetlands and semi-natural meadows) has been assessed, and the results of this analysis have been used to develop management proposals in a context of climate change. Special emphasis has been placed on monitoring the climate impact on the alluvial forest, with a methodological proposal of indicators. Likewise, a study of the presence of invasive exotic species, especially terrestrial plants, has been carried out to analyse their danger and control their populations.
