This project of the Alnitak Cultural Association aims to bridge the gap between marine conservation and the public, encouraging an active involvement of citizens at different levels. The initiative has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment through its call for grants.
Among the specific objectives of the project ‘All by the sea, oceanographer turtles’ is to inform and raise awareness among citizens and the sectors involved in policies and strategies for the conservation of marine biodiversity, and more specifically about the INTEMARES project.
Another purpose is to facilitate the use of the MARNOBA application (which allows marine plastic waste to be classified and recorded) as an opportunity to contribute to policies and strategies for the conservation of marine biodiversity, and specifically in relation to INTEMARES.
It also seeks to encourage active participation in scientific expeditions, especially within the framework of the INTEMARES project, as an opportunity to contribute to policies and strategies for the conservation of marine biodiversity.
Finally, it aims to promote in the education sector and in future generations the idea that we can all be agents of change in relation to marine conservation.
The project includes various dissemination actions, an exhibition, scientific expeditions of citizen science and training meetings with fishermen, sailors and divers to explain the MARNOBA application, among others.
