The jury of the fourth edition of the Responsible Beach Bars Awards, organized by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, has selected the 10 finalist establishments that will be submitted to the public vote through the social network Facebook, to win the prize for Special Mention from the public.
On this occasion, three beach bars in Andalusia have been selected ( Mojama Beach and Albatros, in Chiclana de la Frontera, and La Moraga in Adra); two in the Valencian Community ( Pura vida organic restaurant, in Alcossebre, and Bonavida, in Altea); two in Cantabria ( El Puntal, in Somo and La huella Galizano, in Galizano); one in Catalonia (Lasal del Varador, in Mataró); another in Galicia (Sinas, in Raxó); and another in the Balearic Islands (Francisco I Jaume, in Ses Salines).
Users of these establishments will be able to vote for their favourite until 31 August through the Biodiversity Foundation’s Facebook page, where the 10 candidatures will be published. At the same time, in this IV edition, 5 prizes of €1,500 each will be awarded among the 88 beach bars that have been submitted to the 2015 edition. In previous editions, 175 establishments have already participated, which have developed nearly 300 initiatives to preserve coastal areas and in which more than €53,000 in prizes have already been awarded.
These awards are part of the Coastal Conservation Action Program and aim to reward the work of beachfront hospitality establishments that carry out sustainable activities and are committed to coastal conservation.
To be eligible for these awards, beach bars must adhere to the Decalogue of Good Environmental Practices, an initiative that has already been joined by 672 establishments throughout Spain from which the foundations are laid for an improvement in the management of the space and resources of the beach bars.
