- It complements line 2 of the Circular Economy PERTE, endowed with 192 million euros.
The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has published a new call for subsidies for projects to promote the circular economy in companies, aimed at projects that contribute to promoting sustainability and circularity in industrial and business processes, and to improve the competitiveness and innovation of the industrial fabric. 26.8 million and will finance the best selected initiatives, with amounts ranging from 100,000 euros to 10 million euros per project and beneficiary entity.
The call is part of action line 2 of the Circular Economy PERTE and investment C12.I3 “Support plan for the implementation of the Spanish Circular Economy Strategy and waste regulations” of Component 12 “Spain’s Industrial Policy 2030”, of the Government of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), which has a total of 192 million.
All actions that reduce the consumption of virgin raw materials; improve waste management; focus on research to improve the eco-design of products; and focus on the digital transformation of processes to achieve a more efficient use of resources are eligible for these grants.
This call is expected to be resolved in the first quarter of 2025 and the selected projects must be completed by December 31, 2025 at the latest.
PERTE OF CIRCULAR ECONOMY
The Circular Economy PERTE was approved by the Council of Ministers on March 8, 2022 on the basis of Royal Decree-Law 36/2020, of December 30, on urgent measures for the modernization of the Public Administration and for the execution of the PRTR, and comprises a total of 18 instruments distributed in two lines of action:
1. Line of action 1 of “Actions on key sectors of the Spanish economy such as textiles, plastics and capital goods for renewable energies”.
2. Line of action 2 of “Transversal action to promote the circular economy in the company'”.
Line 2 includes aid for research and development projects; innovation in processes and organization; investment for recycling and reusing waste; and investment that enables companies to go beyond European Union environmental protection standards.
The first call for the transversal line was resolved in March 2024, with 165.5 million for 102 projects, with grants ranging from 150,000 euros to 10 million euros per project.
In addition to this call for proposals, this year there are also grants for the key sectors of textiles, fashion and footwear, plastics (call currently open for applications) and capital goods for renewable energies, corresponding to action line 1 of the PERTE, all within Component 12 “Spain’s Industrial Policy 2030” of the PRTR.
The submission of applications will be extended until August 16, and must be made through the website of the Biodiversity Foundation, which acts as a collaborating entity of line 2 of the PERTE.
