The project aims to generate accurate scientific knowledge about the elasmobranch species present in the Gulf of Cadiz, improving their identification and ecological assessment to promote sustainable management and effective conservation of them.
Specific objectives:
OE1. To improve the accuracy in the identification of elasmobranch species included under the name of dogfish.
OE2. Estimate and forecast sustainable dogfish catches through advanced analysis of historical time series through the use of official data repositories, facilitating informed decision-making in regional fisheries management.
OE3. To analyse and evaluate the use of the habitat by elasmobranch species traded in the Gulf of Cadiz through biological studies and resource-environment analysis.
OE4. To understand, through socioeconomic analysis, the current and historical state of the commercialization of the main species of elasmobranchs of commercial interest in the Gulf of Cadiz, with special attention to those marketed under the name of dogfish.
