E-LASMO2. New technologies and advances in the knowledge of elasmobranchs from the Spanish Levant 2.

Pleamar program

The e-Lasmo2 project analyses fishing pressure in Marine Protected Area (MPA) proposals. Campaigns will be carried out in sandy areas in the province of Alicante to check the presence of elasmobranchs and the analysis of the effect of recreational fishing will continue. As a continuation of the e-Lasmobranc project, the current dataset will be expanded and adapted to new species, incorporating metadata and images from fish markets. The deep neural network architecture will also be redesigned with an informed machine learning approach to integrate expert knowledge and improve identification rates, resulting in an accessible mobile application for elasmobranch identification. In addition, it will allow images to be captured in an assisted way through recommendations for centralized storage incorporating metadata.

On the other hand, communication and dissemination work will continue on the ecological value of elasmobranchs in marine ecosystems and in relation to the pressures to which they are subjected.
