LAB-MAR II. Participatory laboratory for the prevention and recovery of marine litter.

Pleamar program

The Lab-Mar II project, Participatory Laboratory for the prevention and recovery of marine litter, aims to give continuity to the first edition of Lab-Mar, but under the premise of continuing to innovate in the actions proposed. Thus, in this new edition, the project is positioned as an exemplary initiative in that it reinforces collaboration with different agents for litter collection, applying a work methodology that aspires to improve participation, and promotes the circular economy applied to the fishing sector, combining technological innovation, sustainability and cooperation with the local socio-economic fabric.

The initiative will also work on environmental awareness, applying different tools linked to artistic and creative expression. Finally, the social impact of all the actions developed within the Lab-Mar community will be valued.

Among the activities that will be developed are the participatory actions for the collection, classification and recycling of garbage and the promotion of blue tourism without litter and the development of products made from recycled plastic from the marine environment, as a useful product for the marine sector and as an awareness-raising tool that includes the technical and innovative nature of changing the use of filaments for 3D printing to the direct extrusion of plastic waste. An awareness and training program will also be launched for the prevention and reduction of litter through artistic, plastic and scenic experimentation, among other activities.
